 Team Composition

** A representative of the sponsoring Austrealina institution of higher education, typically a faculty member, must serve as the team coach. Each team that consists of three contestants and satisfies the following eligibility rules: 1. contestants are students enrolled in a degree program at the sponsoring institution with at least a half-time load. Q: can teams with students not satisfying one or more of the above conditions participate in AUPC? A: yes. But they will not qualify for the championship or one of the prizes. Q: can more than one team from the same institution win a cash prize? A: No, unless we run out of eligible teams from other institutions. more will be added, if necessary. Scoring of the AUPC Contest
A problem is solved when it is accepted by the judges. The judges are solely responsible for accepting or rejecting submitted runs. The Contest Organizers are empowered to adjust for or adjudicate unforeseen events and conditions. Their decisions are final. The total time for a team is the sum of the time consumed for each problem solved. The time consumed for a solved problem is the time elapsed from the beginning of the contest to the submittal of the accepted run plus 20 penalty minutes for every rejected run for that problem regardless of submittal time. There is no time added for a problem that is not solved. Teams are ranked according to the most problems solved. Teams who solve the same number of problems are ranked by least total time. AUPC Contest Environment/Conduct
DOMJudge will be used as the system for judging and display of scoreboard. Never used it before? do not you worry, you only need a browser to view a demo in http://domjudge.sourceforge.net/demo. Press the "documentation" button and read the "team manual". It is not long and has a lot of pictures. The programming languages of the AUPC only include Java, C, and C++. Submissions in Python/C# are allowed and will be judged for teams with no interest prizes or the AUPC championship. A team that submits a solution in Python/C#, regardless of whether it has been accepted or rejected, will be automatically disqualified from winning the AUPC championship or any of the prizes. But the team's rank on the contest scoreboard will NOT be affected. You have been warned! A team's submission will be compiled, run on judge's data with a judgement communicated back to the team. Judge's decision is one of those listed in http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~elgindyh/AuPC/messages.pdf Each team will use a single workstation provided by the contest organizer. No other electronic devices or storage media are permitted. A single hardcopy of the problems will be made available for each team. Contestants are not allowed to touch their allocated computer, nor the problem set, until the start of the contest. Contestants may bring ONLY printed materials for use during the contest. At least six problems will be posed. So far as possible, problems will avoid dependence on detailed knowledge of a particular application area or particular contest language. The contest runs for 5 consecutive hours.
