German Collegiate Programming Contest

ACM ICPC

The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is a multi-tiered, world-wide contest for students with local and regional events, and a world final. The contest is about programming skills, problem solving and teamwork. In short terms, teams of up to three students try to solve as many programming problems as possible from a given problem set, using only one computer.

Teams compete in regional contests held around the world from September to November each year. The winning team from each regional contest qualifies to advance to the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals, typically held the following March to mid-April. Additional high-ranking teams may be invited to the World Finals as wild card teams.

In order to determine their teams for the regional contests many universities organize or participate in local or subregional competitions. In the region of the North Western European Regional Contest (NWERC), there are three subregionals: the BAPC (for Benelux countries), the NCPC (for Nordic countries) and the German Collegiate Programming Contest (for Germany).
